Along those lines. Have any of you either attached a free-standing tach or swapped out a speedo-tach combination?Of the free standing ones which are the best?

I have, but haven't installed the small 2 5/8" one on the handlebars. In nay event I don't expect a tach to be really accurate. I'm just looking for something that will give me an idea of approximatly where I am in the rpm range or need to shift.
Its more important IMHO to be watching where the hell I'm going, and what thedumb jerk in the cage next to me with the cell phone in his ear is doing and might do before seeing how fast theengineis turning over.
Yes, the only thing you need to do is give them the mileage of yours so they can set it to the same numbers.
Its because of aFederal law that mandatestruth in mileage for used vehicles.
I wonder how many people buy them online without having the mileage set and sell the bike knowing well that it truly has an extra 10k on it or swapping back their original with far fewer miles?

A lot of the on line dealerswant to know the mileage on your bike before they will ship it to you.
In New York you have to sign a statement that the mileage on any vehicle you sell is correct. At least as far as you know.
They tend to "frown" on people who lie about it on a legal document, and the last time I heard about someone who tried it.Got a really heavy duty fine and a reservation in a 6 X 9 room in a building with razor wire fencing around it.
Thanks for the replies guys. I was a little worried when that first came up. The freakin' noise of the pipes goes beyond nice; or loud as hell, ....... The pipes sound like they're having a leg amputated;.... slowly.
Anyhow, think I'll forget changing at 2,000 and start changing at 3,000. And forget going over 4,000.
And yup, the tach/combo is a plug and play. You just unscrew the acorn nut, take off the whole dash, take out dial; and replace. Done.
