I looked on Harley's site, but didn't find anything for the 2008s. IS there anything different in the way that they do this now, or can they do it at all? I am simply curious at this stage of the game, since the stock motor sounds and performs well enough, but I found a distinct, lack of information on the subject. Any pointers or readming material available? TIA
I have the stage 1 done on my '08 Fatty. Truthfully, I don't know if it made a big difference as I had it done even before I picked it up from the dealer. I know it was highly recommended from a great number of people on this site and I haven't had any regrets. I only have the remap as I don't plan on changing the motor anymore at this stage of the game. The bike runs awesome. The only thing that I was pissed about was that the SE AC started coming apart after less than 900 kms. Of course I was waiting for that because of the info I got from this forum. I changed it out to a K&N and haven't had any problems since. I don't think you can go wrong with a stage 1. Just my little bit of change in the pot for what it's worth.
I did my own stage 1 myself. All the stuff I used for '07 worked for '08, as far as my pipes, ecm, and S/E backing plate and it took me a total of 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Mostly I couldn't figure out which pipe was supposed to be on the outside until a half hour later when I finally went inside to look at the picture.
I had the stage I done on my '08 FX new. Never heard it run stock. SE A/C, SERT, pipes, and dyno time. It was around $1200.00 installed by the dealer. The pipes you choose will determine the final price as well as how much is charged for dyno time. Enjoy!
I had the sert on the RKC I had. Nice kit, that was.
New motor has lots of power. I'm looking at it for the cooling aspect.
Kind of like the new pipe sound too. But I might do the AC and flash to get the motor a little cooler.
ANyone run the oil cooler. New one on the downtubes looks like it might block airflow.
