I am scheduled to install SE A/C and get a Stage I download, I already have a set of V&\\;H Slipon Fishtails. Anyway the shop is saying that I have to get a Stage I download and then get my bike dynotuned. Any truth to this or can I ask them to just skip the Stage I download and get it dynotuned. Any help would be appreciated.
Run fast and far away from that shop. \\; There would be absolutely NOTHING the shop could fine tune with a download. \\; They are scamming you and wanting your money.
I had a lengthy reply but \\;when I went to send it gave me an error so you get the condensed version. \\;\\\\\\; Just let them flash it and leave.
Scooter, Ultra... is right. There is nothing to adjust on a download, as the term "download" says it is just that a fixed setting.
If you were to get a Power Commander or one of the other programable tuners then the dyno is an option if you want/need it.
A PC III (power commander) is something you can do yourself. Also, the SE intake is somthing you can easily do yourself, don't pay for that labor. \\; \\;I'm no mechanic and did these my self. Beware of the dealers "stealers" they're out to get your $$$.
If you decide to do it yourself, me and many others on this forum \\;will help \\;out if need it. \\; \\; Good Luck... \\; \\; \\; \\;
The stage 1 download is designed for SE parts only. Without installing a tunable fuel management system such as a SERT or PCIII the bike cannot be dyno-ed. If you can't find a competent tuner in your area, I would suggest purchasing the AC Exhaust and Fuel Management System with a proven map and support to fine tune it if necessary.
If all you are planning on doing for now is the above mentioned work then try a set of IED's from night rider. They are just plug and play. That way you can put the A/C on yourself and save some money. Hope this helps.
