Getting ready to order parts for my chrome frontend. Is it better to order the package that HD sells as a bundle? I can get it from zannotti for $519.00 plus shipping (has all the spacers, drain screw, blah, blah, blah). Or is it better to order parts seperately, i.e. lower sliders, upper sliders, fork tins, etc.
the bundle was a bit cheaper than ordering the individual parts.
that would make sense to me as well, just wanted to make sure. Also, I am not sure what all parts are involved, so the bundle may be the easiest as well.
I ordered the kit....was cheaper....while I was going to order thru Chicago and get the 20% off....still would have to pay labor...one of the local dealers was offering 15% off parts AND labor if ordered thru them...so I think I got a better deal...also got the chrome switch housing kit, levers, and braided lines...figured might as well only tear it apart once and be done with it....riding the bike up tomorrow to drop it off....can't wait 'til Spring!!....haven't ridden since Jan 1st though....hope I didn't forget how!! :-)
I got lucky actually and scored mine second hand from a guy so I did not buy the bundle. I seee the bundle comes with lower tubes, cowbells(sliders) and the triple tree trim, but make sure you buy the chrome wheel spacers and the chrome fender mounting hardware. I went with the radius chrome wheel spacers as opposed to the squared off ones, I thought they looked better.
Warg - have you thought about lowering your bike? If you are now is the time, when you are doing your front end. I did not lower mine when I did my front end. Well now I bought the front lowering springs and the rear lowering bolts so now I have to completely remove my front end again. Just a thought.
If I lower it, it will be the rear only, so the frontend won't come into play. I think (per the catalog) the kit comes with chrome spacers, however, not sure about the chrome fender hardware.
