Default RE: Need help with tech question

Plugs are gapped at 40 and ran good when first put in...they are fouled blackbut not wet so I'm thinking its not oil but fuel air mixture. As I read I'm learning it probably has nothing to do with the exhaust leak. ThatI think I'll have repaired instead of replacing pipes right know. I have the bike stored for the winter and have filled the tanks and added fuel stabilizer. I figure i"ll change the coil and wires and have to see what the carb is jetted at.

Thanks for some of the advice guys. Always appreciate the help.

If it is a carbed Fatty, I'd more likely suspect your carbs are set incorrectly, and/or may need a good cleaning. Had the same problem with my wife's bike (a carbed '03 Vulcan). I was replacing the plugs every other week (a real chore on the Vulcan!), and they'd be jet black. Ran tons of carb cleaner through it, but finally brought it in and had them cleaned, and got everything leaned out, and it solved the problem. Good luck with it...
