I bought a Cross Bones myself today. I was gonna build a bobber and when I saw the Cross Bones I thought it would be a damn good starting point and easier to insure than another home built.
I will get it picked up in a month or so when all the mods are done. I had to make some changes that were more in tune with my personal vision for my bike.
Mods:
Fat Boy rear fender with an led Tombstone tail light
Lowering the butt end 2"
Front fender will be history
Relocation of the front turn signals to the forks
Internally wire the bars.
All the zinc plated goodies will get black powder coated
Gloss black ;powder coat on the rear sprocket
HD floating brake rotors with black centers
Old style grips
Black clutch and brake levers
Thunderheader in black ceramic finish (I have had good reaults with these and they are a low pipe)
Black powder coated derby and tmer covers
Engined will be punched to 103"
10.5:1 Wisco pistons
S&S gear drive cams (not totally settled on lift and duration yet)
Keeping the stock air cleaner cover but getting rid of all the crap behind it and putting a K&N
Ported and polished heads with bigger valves and high speed springs and retainers
Scremin Eagle clutch upgrades
Oh yeah, and the silly folks sold me a "5 year tire warranty"[8D][8D]
She ought to dyno around 103 to 105 with plenty of torque
If you guys want I wil post some pics and dyno results when we get her done.

I ordered the Sampson upswept exhaust with fins, seem perfect for this bike, also getting the passenger pillion and roundbar roundtop sissy bar(black), the only downside to a new model is the passenger peg brackets are on back order til 4/25.

I got to see one up close this past Saturday at the local dealership. It was being prep, but my buddy (salesman) took me back to the service bay for a look at it.
It was Olive Pearl. The olive and black looked great together, IMHO, and made it look like one wicked bike!

Everything is finally in, I drop it off wed. Sampson upswept fishtail, pass pillion w/roundbar sissybar, detachable low profile windshield and stage one. Can't wait, the only thing I still will want to do is a bobtail luggage rack but I can not find a black one anywhere, might have to have a chrome one powdercoated. It will cover the nice pinstriping but I need two up overnight ability. 200 miles on the bike and overall I am impressed, One thing about the seat is sitting up a little higher lets you throw the bike around a lot more, it is a fun ride.
I'll post a pic end of the week.
