Looking for advice on mounting a silver-faced mini-tach to a 2007 FXSTC. I swapped the black speedo for a silver one and want a small tach to match.
Thanks
Might not be the best option, and its sure as hell not the cheapest. But I wanted the tach and a different set of bars. So I picked the HD Bombay bars with the tach housing built in.
Please excuse the mess.
The bars are not theonly thing getting changed/upgraded this winter.
Citoriplus, You will really like this tach...I put the same tach (of course a different mount) on my heritage this fall. I had the speedo/tach combo...what a disapointment that was.
wb0zrd,
I considered the speedo/tach combination, but I have a 'thing' about having to look down instead of ahead any time I would be really needing a tach and decided that it was not a good idea. I needed a new set of bars anyway to bring the grips back and down to be more comfortable and this looked like the perfect way to have my cake and eat it too.
To bad the sucker costs so damn much, took me forever to find one on e-bay for a reasonable price. It was missing a part, the screw to hold the bullet shaped housing on. But a little bit of looking in the local Hardware store and I found a stainless steel screw for a buck that I could cut down for a perfect fit.
I had to cut down the base of the bracket on the each side, it took about 20 mins.
No issues and yes i have the security sys. The tach. is not the issues with the 08
FXSTC, it's the brackets. HD does not make one, so you have to modify the bracket.
