I put one on my Springer Classic becouse on that bike I like the look's of the old style crash bar on that bike I think it add's to the style of the bike. And that's the same reason I don't have one on my 87 Softail Chopper.
Just my spin on the engine guard use â I had one on my 1200 XLC Sportster & sort of adopted itâs use on the Deuce. At first, it hit me that it took away from the lines of the Deuce & even though I really donât mind the way it blends into the bike lines - I donât think it will ever look like it should be thereâŚ
However, I feel that if I do something dumb â such as: forget to have the bike in 1st on a hill, have the jiffy stand push into soft asphalt & tip the bike over, you drop the bike for whatever reason â the guard will certainly help.
Harley is careful to explain the engine guard is not a crash guard â just so you donât think that youâll have any significant protection in a moving accident.
Now after several years â Iâve gotten to like it just fineâŚâŚ The engine guard is also a convenient place to place the EZ-Pass on or highway Pegs, if thatâs what you want to do.
If the shape is brothering you perhaps the Lindby Engine Guard is for you âsome folks like the look better than the hoop lookâŚ.
