I have had it on my mind to get these for sometime now and 1 for each side as well. The thing is I am a sure fire, bon-i-fied chrome ***** but for some odd reason I have been thinking lately of getting them both in the high gloss black! I am wondering how they will look with the bike and just about everything else chromed out! A little black to break things up or to continue on with my current quest of all chrome? Suggestions? Thoughts?
I didn't realize you can get tool boxes for both sides. Good to know for bar hopping w/ duals. I was wondering what to do since the swing arm bags don't really go with duals.
Ya know ebay has people conditioned to thinking that since they are buying things through their website you are automatically getting a deal when in fact many times you aren't!! Always check other places before you buy anything from ebay. It's not always a "great deal"!!!
They can be rekeyed to match your bike. Just peel back the black plastic on your stock key and record the number stamped there. Bring the toolbox lock cylinder and key number to your H-D dealer, and they can take care of it for you. It takes a few weeks though.
Oh yeah when you go to remove the lock tongue, be aware that the screw is installed with red Loctite. Hit it with a torch first or you'll break something. Don't ask me how I know.

I checked with 2 local HD part departments, and they tell me that they cannot order the barrel style locks to match the ignition key on my 2012 Fatboy. Has anyone out there found a place to get locks?
Go to any locksmith. Take the box top and the HD key to them and they can key the barrel lock to work only with your key. I had mine done locally for $22 for both.
I dont think you can run the left side with running a true dual exhaust like a samson, so leaves you able to run the right side only, or am i wrong is somebody running both sides with true duals

You are partially correct. The left toolbox will not work with true dual crossOVERs but it will with true dual crossUNDERs.
The right side toolbox mounts fine with any TD exhaust. With a TD crossOVER exhaust:
On models with saddlebags: the left toolbox is too long to fit between the header pipe and the front of the saddlebag.
On models without saddlebags: the toolbox mount would have to be modified for it to work.
The problem is the header pipe sits where the toolbox should be.

the last place to look is your dealer always higher. Problem is third party can no longer sell harley parts ended about a year ago. There are some dealers on line that discount 20%
