..but I think saddle bags will kill the look of the bike.
I thought that as well until I did the Ironbags.. I think they're the best shape for softails including FL softails. Superb construction and designed to haul bricks. Awesome bags. But granted, it depends on the "look" you're after.. If you go with full-size or even mid-size bags, you're scoot will still look like a 'bagger'.. The fatboy is a funny bike as far as looks go.. It's not a Heritage (bagger), it's not a standard or custom for sure.. It's it's own look, so you can be versitile with it.
I also bought the matching HD bags and I really like the looks. I wasn't sure about bags on a fatboy at first but now I don't think I'll ever remove them, well I do when I wash the bike.
I bought the exact same '07 style Fatboy bags and had them mounted on my new '08 anniv. Softail Custom before I took delivery of it and love them. I recently decided to remove them to get back that "stock" look of the bike. Had them off for two days and now their back on. The bike looked weird without them. Most guys and gals would never put bags on a bike like mine, but personalization is what it's about. Love them bags and their look. I even bought the matching windshield bag from a member here to put on the HD quick detachable windshield that I leave on the bike and I like the look and function of it.

Kill the image? I don't think so. Make them removable and that's it.
The luggage rack works great for the jacket when it get hot. The tank bag is great for glasses and gps and other items. It is a camera bag that cost about $20 with the belt strap cut so half goes under the seat and the other under the console.
