Anyone have to change this on an '07 Fat Boy? I'm stationed a long way from a dealer, so getting parts is difficult and time consuming at best. Any advice/tipswill begreatly appreciated!
If your thinking of replacing it cause the shifter sticks on you. I suggest you first try disconnecting the shift linkage and seeing if the pedals are just sticking on the pivot bolt. Its a very common ailment on the later Softails and easy to fix.
If it is just the pivot bolt, just pull it out, clean it up, and relube it with a good grade of grease or anti-sieze. Put the shift linkage back on and you'll be back in business.
Shouldn't take you more than 20/30 minutes if the bolt comes out without a fight.
If your desperate for something to use see if you can find any Vaseline. Its not the best thing, but it is a petrolum based lube and will work until you can find something better.
