Default PROGRESSIVE 422 PRELOAD

I have a set of 422's on a '97 FLSTC. The preload is set in the middle as I sometimes ride solo and sometimes with a pillion, this setting seems fine for pillion riding but riding solo I'm getting thrown out of the saddle when I hit a bump. My dumb question is, do I increase or decrease the preload to make it a bit more comfortable for solo riding ?

Are you saying that the 422's when riding solo are too stiff or too soft?

Try a quarter turn on each shock and then test ride. If it is not soft enough for you, turn another quarter turn on each shock. (By the way, mark you current positions with a sharpie on each shock so you can see how much you have turned them.)

Thanks, I would like to have them hard !!

When they are shipped, they are at the softest position.

I turned two turns and it is not enough hard...

How much turns until they are blocked ??
