I agree on blacking out the oil tank.

Pipes either way, but since you've done so much black, they might look better black.
Then the motor will pop a little more with it's balck and chrome accent.

But definately black out the oil tank.

Black oil tank for sure, I would leave the controls chrome, black out the leavers. Pipes can go either way, purely your preference.

Great looking bike. I'd go with a black oil tank and the chrome pipes.

Let us know how it turns out.
Best of luck.

I want to do the oil tank but if I'm gonna change it I want to put a round style on. Does anyone know of any one that makes round oil bags for twin cam bikes?

ORIGINAL: J

I'm almost done with the changes to my Fatboy but I'm undecided on just how far to go with the black parts. I want to keep a good contrast with the chrome. I still need to get back the a/c cover, dash, and rear axle covers from the powdercoater. My big question is the pipes. Semi-gloss black or keep em chrome? I'm also thinking about putting back the stock black hand controls and doing parts of my forward controls. Any input from you guys will be greatly appreciated as the weather is starting to break here in NY and I need to get out on the road ASAP.

J:

the bike is looking AWESOME! I like the FL front fender on it! Looks killer!

Here's my $.02. Paint/powdercoat exhaust semi or flat black. Use chrome heat sheilds. I have a black exhaust on mine now, which is similar to yours bike. What my sig pic does NOT show is the chrome heat sheilds that I put on. I think it would make your bike stand out a bit more. I'll try and get some pics posted for ya.

Looking great!

Denis

I wish I changed my front fender out like u before I painted the bike, Looks sick! I think black wrap on the pipes would be cool, alittle chrome alittle black. Was it a bitch to take apart all of the fron stuff to get it powdered? I put on my nacelle, but havent tackled into the forks yet.

Throw you a little custom paint, (not much though), on that sled and stop. That is one tuff looking bike.
