Default O2 sensor questions??

I have an 08 Deluxe with V&H true duals, a fuel pak and a K&N Breather.

What do the O2 sensors do?
Can the be eliminated? If so what is the advantage in doing so?
Do they rob any power?
If I unplug them, do I have to remap my fuel pak? If so where would I get the new remap info.

Thanks

It is the primary measurement device for the fuel control computer in yourbike to know if the engine is too rich or too lean. Why would you want to eliminate them?

Bikes are coming from the factory leaner, and leaner every year. I have seen bikes so lean they were surging bad while riding them. I hate an o2 sensor, but with euro3 resrictions becoming mandatory in the next few years bikes will start to run worse and worse until someone like power commander comes up with a better map for euro 3 bikes.

Rip out the sensors, put in plugs, throw the fuel/pak away, get a mikunni carb after ditching the fuel injection and stay out of California! Don't forget the choke on cold day starting. And what's more you can stop a little more often for gas. Just kidding, your Vance & Hines fuel/Pak is desighned to "help" the bike from running too lean and it uses the o2 sensors to insure that.

You can eliminate them with a PowerCommander III.

to drop the o2 sensors you will need to remove the fuel pak and install a dynojet module. Have a look at it on their site.

JROCK put it as clearly as possible, but I agree that the bikes are running very lean, why do ya think they provide chrome shields so ya don't see the BLUE PIPES...ideally your pipes should be gold if any color...but that was the good old days.
