The thread about baggers doing wheelies inspired me to ask if anyone on here has gotten their Deluxe, Heritage, or Fatboy off the ground. I've only heard of people doing it with a passenger. I want to be able to get my wheel off the ground, if even only a few inches. Can it be done?
You can pull a wheelie with just about anything if you try hard enough, just rev her up and dump the clutch. If you are talking about pulling the front wheel while moving, that's a different cup of tea altogether. I used to pull the front wheel on my Superglide 2-4 inches speed shifting through 3rd gear on good pavement with a fresh tire. Other than that, it would usually fishtail a bit when grabbing gears. Even if I could get it to stand straight up, I would never do that. It may be fun on the way up, but coming down would be a bitch. Harleys are just too heavy and the forks aren't made to withstand that kind of force. The main problem with big bikes is getting the rear wheel to hook up. You've got a bit more weight on the front of your Deluxe than a Superglide.
I can get get me frontend off the ground a couple of inches. I am motored up. With the bigger back tire it hppks up better than the 160 i had on my 06 fatboy
No way for me man. If I screw up and drop it -a big waste of money or worse, the equivalent of being under something that weighs as much as a 4-wheeler. I have a couple of dirt bikes that I prefer to wheelie.
Leave that crap up to the rice rockets....how crappyare ya gonnafeel it that sucker gets away from ya while your trying to pop the pony......LET IT GO !!!!
Waltman and tk353. Those are great videos and I have watched them a bunch of times before, but they are not the softails I was talking about. I know that it can be done on a touring bike, and I know it can be done on a Standard. I have yet to see anyone do it with the big front end on a softail. That's a whole different animal than those other bikes. My question still stands...
