ok.. what do you guys do with all your spare parts? like new pipes what ya do with the stock ones?? bars, seat, the list goes on and on. i bet some just get stuff in the corner of the garage. some maybe ebay? but from what i`ve seen there not worth anything.. anyway what do we do with em??[sm=smiley24.gif][sm=smiley25.gif]
I'll keep most of my stuff. throw it in a box. keep your pipes just in case emision laws change and you have to go back to stock to pass a test.....you never know what you'll need and be sorry you got rid of..
If I ever sell the bike all the original stuff is going back on the bike. The extras on the bike now will work on the next bike so why seel them on the bike, and then have to rebuy it all? Plus all the extras don't really add up in price when it comes time to sell.
well jeff kinda true but if i ever sell my bike i would think it would be cuz i want a full dresser or bobber something like that.. and most of my parts wouldn`t work for the new bike..this is not my 1st new bike but my 1st HD. and my last new bike i left it the way i rode it when i passed it on. i still got the stock parts for it. but i do like the idea of saving the pipes cuz of emision laws.
Yeah I guess it depends on what your future bike will be, Myself I don't ever see myself on a bagger. I know they are great bikes, and all, but just not for me. IF I was ever to get one, I would then have to own 2 bikes...
I keep all the parts I took off mostly in case I drop the bike, I will have spare parts until I can replace them, like if I flatten a muffler or something. Also fifty years from now, they will be worth a mint!!!!!!!!!!
I keep them and give them to anyone who needs them after a crash or whatever. I've given away parts here, mirrors to a freind who had crap ones, and needed newer. I also know a guy who is a welder/artist, and I've given some stuff to him for his hobby.
I keep on mine as well. If I ever sell bike is going back to "Original" I can always sell my add ons on E-Bay or use them myself. Plus I think it is good to have if you ever goon up a add on you can put stock back on until you get new add one. I think most people don't want to buy a bike that someone else had "Done" the way they like. All of our bikes are a small reflection of ourselfs I belive.
I keep 'em in the garage, except when I switched to an S&S Super E, the old carb was part of the payment for labor (plus he needed it more than I.) Also tossed out the old mufflers, it's been over 7 years, don't think I'll ever need 'em. Glad I saved the turn signals, needed 'em to resell.
I told the HD shop to box up all the new parts that they remove, because I know there aren't any "core" charges for cams, pistons, air cleaner, etc., and I want what I paid for.
[ignore the avatar, the only bike I have right now is a '99 Night Train, waiting for the '06 Ultra]
