Well rbabos, sounds like you have a different opinion than the one I'll find in manual. Mind sharing it with me? Thanks
I'm in agreement with what tabone75 said. The only thing I will add is don't beat it with cold oil and don't overheat it during high load runs. You need high pressure on the rings so they are forced into the cylinder. Use HD dino oil and dump it at 50-100 miles as well as the filter change. Do not use any oil that has a high additive package, especially moly. The only thing on an engine that needs break in is the rings so the first hour of operation is the most important when accomplishing this. Ron
All the advice was good except all left out
THE MOST INPORTANT THING,never keep
your R.R.M. steady for the first 500 miles!
Constantly roll on /off the throtle not in first,
but there after. Vary your speed by 15% to
20% slowly. It's a bit of a PITA but insures good break in
Try to avoid WTFO and exceeding top RPM B4 500 mls.
Siix bikes and 120,000+ miles NEVER had one burn any
oil and all ran HARD!
Nice bike rockerhead. Where did you get that seat? That is what I'm looking for for my Rocker. I know Heartland has one very similar and Corbin said they were coming out with one soon, but that one is very cool. I'm hoping to reduce the space between the seat and rear fender, close it up a little.
