I had the same "trust issues" with the stand when I first got the bike. I always make sure any bike is in gear when I park anyway. If in gear, it can't roll far enough forward or backward to come off the kickstand.

It does feel strange,but trymoving the bike a little and you will see it locks and
doesnt move,..whats more u will not be able to move the kickstand backwards moving the bike.

+1...putting it in gear when parked is an old habit and second naturefor me.
I never putmy bike in gear when I park it (unless I park on a incline)...and I've never had the jiffy stand fail me...even after I lowered my bike 2"...having your bike in gear when you park it isgood insurance against your bike rolling on 'ya just make sure you take it OUT of gear before you try to start it again(don't ask me how I know this)
