sound system
I'm planning my first big trip, seattle to black hills, sd in June and would like to install speakers and sound system on my 2007 heritage classic. any suggestions? ease of installation a factor a bonus. really need to here from someone who's done a speaker system after market. thanks

here is another company you may want to look at. i haven't gotten anything from them but it looks more affordable to my wallet. i do like the smaller speakers on cyclesounds but i couldn't that much for it.

one suggestion my friend has an traded in cop bike with a stereo. the cd plays plenty loud for highway speed but mp3 dosen't get load enough. i would recommend getting the largest amp possible.

I have some MH Dumble Road self amplified speakers that are made in driving light cases. They have 25w amps built in and 4" speakers. Nicely made and about $260. They are loud and clear but my pipes are loud (V & H duals with standard baffles) so their roar drowns out a good deal of the sound. I actually have to turn it down from full volume at a stop light. I have a Garmin c580 that I bought specifically because it has a built in MP3 player which is wired to the speakers. I installed switches for both the speakers and the garmin's power and have them wired to work on either run or accessory positions. I like them but I've really only used them for the 3 weeks I spent in Daytona and the Keys so I don't know what longevity will be. 2" speakers are too small I think to produce much more than high end. I'm not sure where an amp could be hidden/installed on a softail if you already have an alarm system and a PCIII, for example, installed behind the frame in front of the mud guard - there's not much room left. In any event, I would advise installing separate switches in the handlebars for the speakers/amp. If you are not using them, you don't want them powered all the time the bike is running. JMHO

This is the coolest system I have seen. It mounts to your windshield and comes off the bike when the windshield comes off.

Go and visit with them in their facility. (Lynnwood...close to CycleBarn)
You can have your cake and eat it too. Slap on the Fairing and you get.....TUNES.......and all of the "Wind-Protection" you get with the Fairing for your longer trips. When you want to go BAR-HOPPING.....whala.......yank that puppy off and you're good to go!

saw the cycle sound system. as joe recommended yesterday on a old springer and it looked good and sounded good. i dont listen to music while i ride but i thought it was pretty cool.....just my opinion ..kerry
