Default Handlebar question?

I have a 99 FXST with the stock handlebars. Well they gotta go and I was looking to put some drag/t-bars in place of them. I was looking at the Burly Burly Bars [DS-300100] Rise drag bar (31.5" wide, 7.25" rise, 9" center width and 6.25" pullback). I just want to make sure they will clear the tank but I am not sure on the pullback. I don't want to be leaning forward like a crotch rocket but I also don't want to sit back in my seat all the way b/c the bars are to far back. Any comments or help would be appreciated. Also, if anyone some some drag bars on their standard post some pics and let me know of your rise and pullback.

Default RE: Handlebar question?

I think drag bars are pretty common on alot of the Night trains. Might want to look at some of the night train photos here on the site, or stop in at a local dealer to see if they have one on hand with these bars. You'll be reaching forward more if you use drag bars. Alot of the reach issues will depend on your height, seat and type of forward controls. I can't speak of the Burly bars from experience, but did put some Wild1 Chubby T-bars on my 2005 standard (501's), and they clear the tank just fine. They come close to the stock buck horns as far as width, but do not come back quite as far. I am 5' 11' and am using a LePera Bare Bones solo seat and have stock forward controls. I'm not reaching for the bars, but am stretched out when I lean back into the seat. I had drag bars on my old Sportster (1999 1200 Custom). I thought these bars were very comfortable on the Sporty, and was considering drag bars on my Softail, but the T-Bars just have a look to them that I like. I'm very pleased with the quality and appearance of these bars and know they were the right choice for me. Check out the Wild1 website. They have lot's of different pictures showing their various bars on various Harley's.
