i'm the proud owner of 05 softail standard. changed the seat to the solo lepera and my *** is killing. thinking about getting drag bars and leaning forward may help my ***. i'm not sure about how much rise and pullback etc. i woul like the bars to be higher and me more forward. does an 8 inch rise aound right....and what about pull back, and do i get them dimpled or drilled for wire hiding. I'm still kind a new to this i guess.thanx. jake.
I installed a set of Street slammer bars on my FXSTI when I bought it. I also have a Badlander seat. Some days it never bothers me at all, then the next day it is a real uncomfortable ride. I love the way the bars, and seat look but on a long day of riding it's not very user friendly.
You can get away with six inch straight risers and even keep the turn signals on the bars. I have a butt-crack solo seat and the drag bars, unfortunately, dont help with the seat comfort. But, the bars look cool, and work out a lot better than the stocks when splitting lanes.
if yaa want comfort get a new seat. Get a corbin fast gunfighter. Good back support. Very low profile. Its proably cheaper than changing bars unless you want that drag look. If that is the case then all that will do is shift the soreness to a new area on you *** with that Le Pera seat.
I have a night train and its not the bars its the seat. I still have a stock seat and its a painfull f*****r but It is still on her. I feel the same way if you find the answer let me know.

On my Night Train, I don't find the badlander painful per se, but it does give my *** a hard time!!! I thought the drag bars would make for an uncomfortable seating position, but so far, the seating position is not bad at all. I haven't put lots of miles on her yet (up to 420 kms - about 250 miles), but I HAVE spent a lot fo time in the saddle puttin' around town during the break-in period. Tonight I put in about 3 hours total, and Friday I put in about 4 hours. My *** let me know it wasn't very happy, but it wasn't until I got OFF the bike that I noticed any discomfort. Today, I was getting a cramp in my hip from shifting so much, hehehe... no matter though, I LOVE being in the saddle, so that sure isn't going to deter me!
