Default Bars or seat first?

Trying to decide what to do first. I will eventually do both but trying to fix this kink in my upper back and neck on when I ride my 08 Street Glide. I want to go with the Wild1 #575 bars. The bars installed I am looking at $500-$600. I also am looking at the C&C seat with the gel padding. The seat will be $500-$600. I was thinking the bars might be the first smart thing to try first right?

Wow, thats some exspensive taste you have there.
$500-600 for bars
Thats way overy my head

I would have to go with the seat. You might not need the bars then and you will diffently like the extra comfort.

Buy a manual and save some buck by doing yourself. Its not hard just time consuming, but it save me about 500 buck.I just installed 13" Cyclesmiths to my EGC.The stealers said 8 hrs and it took me 2 1/2 days, but itdidn't cost me anything, just the cost of the bars and cables.

To be honest with you I don't want the backrest. I know it might help some but don't want tthat look at all. That would be my 3rd choice. I know it would be cheaper to do it myself but I have never done that before. and would rather pay the $200-$300 and have it done in a few hours instead of me jacking something up and taking 3 days.

Even though the bars are probably the main cause of your shoulder pain, do the seat first as you're probably going to do both anyway. The new seat will move you some combination of up down forward back. After you install the new seat, sit on the bike and hold your arms out to where they are naturally comfortable. Then measure (guesstimate)thedifference in height, width, grip angle from your OE bars. OE and aftermarket bar specs are readily available and there's a bunch of choices out there to meet your needs. While your waiting for your new bars to come in, try rotating the OE bars back some.

I am going to do some adjustable highwayengine guard mounts and pegstoo on Thursday. Maybe with my legs out I might get more relaxed and it might help everything as well. I switched out my seat for a hard badlander last year on my Fat Boy. It was hard on the butt but it did help my neck

If you buy the seat first you won't have to buy another set of bars because you sit differently (higher, lower, farther back) than on the stock seat. (my .02 and that's all it's worth)

I've Been exactly where You are right now. But I sent My seat to Gel Seat ,Had it reworked , Thought that would cure my Back pain, NOPE,, Then I threw an Airhawk on for the long hauls, Worked beautiful ..For Monkey ***....But Still had back and shoulder pain,, So I threw on a set of 13" Cycle Smiths http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/14/257/5910554 And Bam, A world of Difference,, Took about 3 days to get used to them, But after I did, I couldn't stop smiling.. I'm almost ready to trade up the the 16" apes ..
