I tried to lift the tank to fit a marlin head temp. reader and i heard a cracking sound and then saw fuel all over the place. The fitting that attaches on the fuel line tube BROKE.
I now need to purchase a new line. Does anyone know the part number of the plastic fitting (or if its true HD vintage part) the entire line?
Thanks.
I was thinking of just putting a longer hose or should I not?
had the same problem its about a 35 dollar part most dealers have them in stock
next time disconnect it. its a quick release like push pull type fitting simple fix
when you get the part
I tried to buy just the quick-disconnect for the fuel line to use for easily draining the tank, but found out they don't sell the individual components, just the whole fuel line assembly. At least that was the case for my '06.
It cost about $45 or so, and was really easy to install; it just snaps on.
I wouldn't mess around with making the fuel line longer; it disconnects at the tank very easily if you want to lift it.

it happened to me when I was changing my handlebars I lifted the tank and the next you know I had fuel running down my legs and driveway. the only funny thing is when I went to the dealer had to describe the part not knowing the part number is on the part its self I felt real stupid so here's the part number with should be around the hose 62900-01B

DIY Mod for broken fuel tank to intake quick connect
New to Forum, so here is my DIY Tip that I hope others can benefit from:
Here is a cheap replacement for the fuel tank-to-intake quick connect for fuel injected models in case the factory one gets broken and you don't want to pay $45.00 + dollars for a new factory piece of plastic & fuel hose .
Dorman p/n 800-120 is for a steel quick connect (5/16") ~$10.00 at auto parts store. Or Dorman p/n 800-057 for a plastic replacement quick connect fitting (5/16") w/nylon tube attached that can be cut off and removed ~$20.00 at auto parts store.
I used the steel one on my '07 FLHT and it works fine, no leaks.
This is de ja vue. The same thing happened to me about 3 days ago. I lifted the tank and heard the "snap." When I went to HD for a replacement and saw the entire thing is now one piece and metal, I realized how many of us must have had to buy replacements. HD got smart and made the connections out of metal and permanently sealed.
