I read somewhere that if the guards are on and there is rock damage they will honour the warranty. That is one of the reasons why the guards are there. Depends on the dealer and how much you are willing to push the issue.

I dont know the answer.

It seems to me you cant warrenty that though. Its like if a rock hits my gas tank and chips the paint i cant say harley should of protected that better.

I did hear that if you take the belt guards off that it voids warrenty.

I would argue the point to that and other dealers.

Sounds like road hazard to me. Shouldn't be covered, IMO. I'm pretty certain when I bought my extended warranty in 1999 it said belts were not covered.

My question is how do they know it was a rock? I would throw a hissy, especially considering you paid for the extended warranty. You'd be suprisedwhat talking **** about poor customer service in the middle of the showroom floor in front of potential customers will get you.

put your foot down, you're the paying customer (and the economy sucks) so they better recognize!

its only warranty work if moco pays for it ..... otherwise I would call it charity ..... a damaged belt is not something I would have high hopes of getting replaced under warranty ( guard or no guard )

It sounds like the typical 'road hazard' to me...the MoCo should not be held responsible. JMHO.
