Hypercharger is just HYPE the flaps are ONLY for show Any HP gains would be a result of the low restriction filter element used in conjunction with a free flow exaust system and a re-tune. If it looks kool to you, Yours is the only opinion that counts!

Had one on my last carbed bike and the dyno showed it picked up about 6 HP...every bike is different, and so are the guys tuning them
The Hypercharger is no better or worse than any other free flowing filter ON A DYNO.
The problem with them is aerodynamics and speed. On a dyno the bike is static and it can suck all the air it needs through the bottomslots and the front butterflys. But get the bike moving over 50 to 60mph and the slightly higherairflow speed over and around it creats a low pressure area on the back, bottom, top,and sides.
That's when the 'problems' with HP figures starts to rear its ugly head. Part of that low pressure area is right around the bottom vents so with the butterflys closed its actually trying to suck air OUT through the vents, effectivly starving the engine. If the butterflys were to stay open and the vents blocked it "might" force more air in through simple ram effect. But with the vents open a lot of the air going in the front is going to get sucked out through the vents. Plus there is a limit to the flow rate that anyone can realisticallyexpect to be "rammed" through those butterfly holes without external help of some kind, like a supercharger.
There's a easy way to test it if your curiious. Get a couple of pieces of yarn about 1" long and tape them to the outside between the vent slots. Start the bike up and with the bike ideling they should getsucked in through a slot. Now get someone to ride next to you and watch the yarn as you go. Once you go over 45 to 50 and are not twisting the grip as hard as possible to keep the butterflys open. The odds are that unless it gets stuck or hung up the yarn is going to be sucked out by the lowered pressure toflap in the breeze.

Sounds like an interesting experiment...unfortunately, I traded that bike in the Train...have to see if one of my friends will try that on his bike...ifwe do, I'll post up with what we find.

first thing I bought for my bike love the looks
as far as hp gain I personelly think/believe that at the top end I get alittle more
out of it .. mine has been on for the last 40 thou. miles and had no problem
I have also ridden in the rain with no problem
as for sticking out futher I don't believe that as mine is no more in the way than
the stock ugly one and is alot better looking than one of those pointy thing every body seem to love. yes get the matching insert..

Hyperchargers make less HP vs other air kits (Big Sucker). The housing of the Hypercharger restricts air flow regardless of whether you are moving or not. The Big Sucker is open and exposed and can draw in air from any direction.

Is the Hypercharger better than stock...yes. Are there better air kits out there...yes.

The Hypercharger looks cool and if you like that then get one.I have bought 2 bikes that had them on and they werethe first thing that came off and right to Ebay they went.
