wider beach bars
[8D]I'm considering putting the wider beach bars on my 07 softail deluxe, it has the standard beach bars on it now, but I think the wider ones are killer lookin, don't mind the $200.00 for tha bars, but the extra 300 for the new cables makes me sortof on the fence about the whole thing, has anyone out there ever installed the wider bars WITHOUT changing the cables ( and maybee some wires) thanx in advance for any input----Capt Bob-----Florida
hey cap,
i've always had to change cables and wires with anyhandlebar change...from my recolection, those cables and wires are cut pretty tight and you would not be able to turn the handle bars with out changing the cables and wires...

I think if you go with the Bikini Beach you can get it to work if you lose the riser. From what I can tell the cables look tight, but they work.
I am sure someone with better knowledge will post on this.

Wild One 550 Beach Bars look awesome. You don't have to change the clutch or the Throttle/Idle on a Fatty although you should change the brake. On the Wild One site there's a Fatty in their Gallery that has a stock brake that has been "straightened", altough I'm not sure I'd be happy doing that.
I changed my cables out, although haven't gotten around to changing my clutch yet. I think the cables look awesome with the bars and think it's worth it. Not sure about the deluxe and the cable lengths. But there's a guy called Von Zipper in the Deluxe section, and you may wanna check out his pics. That bike is awesome and the reason I got the wide beach bars.
Love 'em....

hey cap ,i know what you mean about the extra money but if you can, go for it ,i had mine done with braided hoses ,i cant remember what make the bars are, but they are just shy of 40" wide, well worth finding the extra money for, best decision i made for ages.
Intersting timing on your thread. I just finished changing out the W0550 Wild One Chubby Beach Bar on my 2007 Deluxe for a newBurley Beach bar with the Wild one Chubby 1.5 inch riser and one of their chrome clamps..............very cool, low and lean mod in conjunction with theHD Nacalle!!
This what I have on my bike: Burly Brand - 1 1/4" Burly Bars 0601-0551 WIDE: 38 1/2â€, RISE: 2 7/8â€, CENTER WIDTH: 9 1/2â€, PULLBACK: 15 3/4†- Beach bar.
Big difference in width and about an inch in rise less than the Wild One bar....I was looking for a wide, lean bar and found it in the Burely.......Very pleased with the look. I also put HD Diamond back lines which was worth the extra cost. Cap, if there is anyway you can swing it, g owith the diamonds.
If anyone is looking for a new(preclamped) W0550 Wild one chubby beach bar, I've got one for sale at over 30% savings over a new one. Please Note: The Wild One Chubby Beach Bar is an outstanding bar in every respect....I just wanted something lower/leaner.

I put the wide beach bars on my Springer Classic right after I bought it 3 years ago. They really looked great. But I did not care for the comfort or slow turning maneuvers were a good bit more sensitive so I changed them again. At 6' they made me feel like I was spread like a kite in the wind. Just saying... consider comfort as well.
Cap,
Before I switched out to Chubby 518's I had a set of beach bars on my Road King andI left the stock cables on. Because the cable angle with the BB's was sharper theybegan to rub across the tank (on turns) and eventually wore a spot in the clear coat in front of the gas cap.The problem went away with the longer cables and new paint...I'm on the side of doing it right the first time with new (and longer) cables when you change the bar.It always bothered meevery time I saw the rubbed spot on the tank.
BTW, I sat on a bike recently that had a set of Burly BB's on it and they're danged nice bars.
Good luck.
