I emailed Mustang to ask about seats that would fit the XBones. I may want to pick up another seat for when the wife rides with me, however, solo I will use the stock seat. Surprisingthiswas their response:
None of Mustang's seats will fit the Crossbones model. Mustang will not be
offering any seats or accessories for this bike, sorry. Thanks for your
interest in Mustang.
I then asked the following:
That is surprising. According to the HD website any seat for a 06-08 FX softail,
excluding Duece, or a 06-08 Fatboy will fit the Cross Bones. Is the method you use
to attach the seats or something that the same would apply?
Their response:
Our seats for the standard and wide-tire Softail models are made to fit like the HD seats do. All we can tell you from here in the e-mail department is that we have been told that our current seats will not fit the Crossbones and we will not make special seats to fit, sorry.
that sounds like a cop out too me. i like my seat tho....i guess if i clould find a more comfy one for the wife, she'd be happier. like you said, you can always switch it out.
The Cross Bones is an FXSTC from the neck back. Anything that will fita ST Custom will work on it. Pretty stupid move on Mustang's part if you ask me. Why would you not want to make accessories for one of the hottest selling bikes on the market? I guess that's why I decided to make a career in the military rather than run a company. I would probably make stupid business decisions that would meet my market demands and actually make money [8D].
