Default Slotted risers FXSTC

I am thinking about putting these risers on the FXSTC. I am wondering if they'll require a cable change, since it doesn't indicate that
it will. Are they simply stock height but curved back an inch?

I like the stock bars, but wish they were about two inches higher.

That and the Ness forward control extension kit and it should be good to go for ergos.

If I remember right, I looked at those for my bike once, those risers are about 4" high. The stock ones are only about an inch. So that means they will be 3" different and that might be just about the limit for the clutch, throttle, and idle cables. The electrical cablesare already virtually at their limits. So unless you do some creative rerouting they will at least need to be extended. Thestock brake line is more of a hard line than a flexable one. So there's virtually no room for it to move, its almost certainly going to have to be replaced.

Wow. Ok, if I do that, and have to change the lines out, then I might as well pay the 70 dollars or so for the bars and leave the risers it has on it. I could go to 14s without too much issue. I kind of like them about there. Had a bike with 12s and 4 inch risers before, and it was up just a touch too high. Rather than hold the bars with my wrists vertical or approaching, I like them to be more horizontal, and a little lower. I feel I have more control that way.

So much for a quick fix. 400 bux to change out the bars. I'd just get new switches instead of going the solder route. More reliable. I like the kromewerks bars. Had them before, and they aren't as wide as some of the other bars. They're cheaper too. IIRC, they'd have to be drilled to put the wiring inside.

I appreciate the quick response. You've always been right on with your advice.

The risers are for a 1" handlebar so they should fit fine.
BTW Nice looking bike, its not black, but its nice none the less.
You might also try to get another sig pic, but this time take it with the front wheel a bit straighter. Thenyoucan photoshop out the jiffy stand it will look like your actually riding it.

Stretchman,
I just changed my bars for lower ones, that's the only reason I know that the wires have very little extra slack in them.
With the shorter bars everything was too long and I was forced toreplace the cables and brake line. I managed to bundle the extra wire up and stuff it under the tank. But if I ever have to pull the tank again, like for paint. I will be shortening them. They make too big a bundle under there and it makes removing or replacing the tank a pain in the butt.

The little time I have had riding with the new bars has been very nice. They 'feel' a lot more solid (they are fatter) andat speeds under 30/40mph its much easier to dodgepot holes in the street. Haven't had to try it withcars at higher speeds, but Igenerally try to avoid situations where I might need to anyway.

I have those on my custom and the only thing you have to change is the brake line, had to get one three inches longer. Other than that its about a 5 minute job.

In case you might be interested. I have a set of these http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_USthat I bought from another forum member. I don't think I'll need them after all. Bought them for $60 + shipping. They are like new. Make an offer.

Well that's good to know, I didn't think there was enough extra cable to go the 3" or so difference. Probably why I had so much excess wire to hide under my tank. Did you get to leave the wires attached to the bars and through the tripple tree, or did you meed to reroute them a little?
The brake line change is a given with nearly any bar or riser change. The hard sections above the clamp under the lower tree just don't leave you much in the way of wiggle room.

Heres the pics AK47,

Citoriplus, the wires had enough slack under the tank so they are still routed like they were, but the trottle cables are on the back side of the bars as you can see in the pics, I can't remember if thats where they were to start with but its never been a problem.
