Default Mystery Plug

I am a new HD owner having graduated from a couple of metrics. Had my Fat Boy for about a month now and love it. YesI have made my list of perf mods and accessory wantsand checked it twice. I have to remind myself thatthese are wants and not needs, at least my wife reminds me. Anyway I was poking around the bike today when I noticed this wiring plug on the bottom of the bike on the frame (exhaust side) close to the rear shocks. It is about the size of a 4 pin trailer hitch plug andhas a cover on it. I was curious if anyone knew what it was for.

Like this?

If so, it's installed by many dealers and is a harness to your battery and used for connecting to your 'battery tender'...

Makes it much easier than in the 'old days' when you had to pull the seat off to hook up a 'tender' to the battery.

Looking at the wiring diagram in the shop manual it says it is an Active Exuast sensor plug, It is only used on International models and my understanding is that it works like a sniffer on a dino, and that it has to be overiden in order to put pipes on a foreign model, mabey one our overseas members can shed a little more light on this. Ride Safe.

It's to monitor the temperature of the mirror fluid.

If that's true, and I have no reason to doubt it. It may alsorun that stupid motorized exhaust baffle system that redirects all of the exhaust through one of the mufflers during steady state (cruiseing) operation.
