No other word for it, really. For all the years I've owned my '92 FXSTS (I aquired it in '00), if I left sitting for a period of several weeks or longer, it would expel about a 1/2 quart or more of oil from some kind of an overflow hose upon starting. If ridden often, it had no problem, but I'd need a pan under it if I'd neglected it for too long...
Now, I'm doing a frame-off and I want to eliminate this issue. Does anyone know what causes it, and how to get rid of it? I seem to remember hearing at some point that it was a symptom of older bikes, but I really don't know...thanks...
It is caused by a check valve that the ball is no longer seating properly. I am not sure of the exact location but if you will search in the Evo classic section there has been alot of discussion of this problem in the past.
