Looking to change out the front end on my 07 Night Train. Was wondering if anyone knows what the max rake/stretch is in order to maintain a good ride both at lo and high speeds. Alsoif anyone can give me an idea how difficult it is to actual do i.e. additional parts required, can I do it myself in the garage, etc...
Thanks for the advice!
What are you planning on changing to. You really can't change the tree rake much or it'll start getting sketchy at speed. The stock trees have rake built into them already, I've hear 2 degrees but that has been a source of debate for some time.
Guys have tried running raked trees, generally 5 degree raked trees, and have had poor success. Many have since removed them.
More tree rake reduces trail, more neck rake increases trail. Longer forks also increase trail by raising the front end of the bike, thus increasing neck rake, same as lowering the rear.
Baron,
looking at getting a black front end from Demon Cycles, black billet tribal that is 6" over stock with 0 degree rake. Will this work without affecting the ride? Will it push the rear down? I've attached a pix and the specs. Is this a major undertaking? I recently changed out the bars so I wanted to get a black front end to match.

Baron is 100% correct with the Demons Cycle most of his stuff is extremelly questionable, but try this link and you can check your rake and trail:http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/index.htm when you get to the site go to the tab that says calulations and all it is after that is plugging in your numbers and it will give you the info.
yeah man. Baron has got it right. The only correct way to rake out the bike and not have the ride suffer, you've got to get the frame cut. Have them actually rake the neck. And they must know what they're doing. As for the extra 6 inches. It would jack up the front like crazy and it would be pretty stupid.
Baron,
thanks for the info... thought Demon's prices were too good to be true... Would like to get a different front end, possibly inverted and black... any suggestions? Don't want to mortgage the house to do it though.
