I just picked up my FXSTB today and Istill can't get the smile off of my face!
I was a Sporster rider for 15 years so this Softail thing is pretty new to me. I'd like to go Stage 1 for now and do a few little things like pegs and new hand controls and possibly braided cables. I'm really lost as far as pipes are concerned. If someone could make some recommendations, I would appreciate the help. What you get for this bike.....

Congrats on your bike, jus slow down n take your time. have a good look n ask more questions!! Its a good idea to do the stg 1 n pipes at the same time!
Good choice on the Train. I, like pink taco, have the Rinehart Cross-Backs on my 08. I also got the Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather and let the dealer dyno tune it. As far as other mods I suggest a tri bar led tail light (check out my pics to see it) wich realy cleans up the rear and looks a lot better.
It's hard to offer suggestions for mods because how somebody mods their bike is such a personal thing. Best thing to do is work your way though the Night Train thread and check out the other bikes and see what you like. LOTS of great ideas in there. Happy hunting and good luck
excellent choice, and congrats on the new ride!! i hope you enjoy and stay safe. I have the Vance and Hines big radius 2-2 on my night train. i like the sound, also installed big city thunder monster baffles in mine. real loud! BUT!!!.....I would not recommend these pipes, because EVERYONEand their brother(for real, their brothers do too!!!) has the vance and hines big radius 2-2!!!!!! look at enough pics and enough bikes in your are and you will see them everywhere. Yes, they look and sound great, but I am already looking for new pipes after 2 years because i just want something different. And this is only MY OPINION!!!! I am not trying to get anyones feathers all ruffled up.

When I was choosing pipes last summer, I had in mind the V&H Big Radius, I think they look great!..but later, the first Night Train I saw in town had them..second choice was BUB JUG Huggers but then I finally I chose the BUB7s because nobody else has them. Now that I've seen pics on here of the Reinharts ...dammit! I REALLY like those. But I'll stick with what I got...for now.
Thank you to everyone for the great suggestions. The pipes still have me baffled (no pun intended) - The Reinharts look great and I think I'm leaning that way although the V&H stuff looks pretty good as well. I'll have to find some place to buy the Reinharts in my neck of the woods (Cleveland). I would assume my dealer would install them and complete the Stage 1?
I did my first modification tonight.... a little thing that makes a big difference as far as I'm concerned. I would assume that I can get the stock reflectors off of the bike with a blow dryer? Any residue left behind?
My second modification is on tap for the weekend....SGTGunner - I agree.
