I have felt no difference either. I think its all a rumor/idea that someone started and cought on. I would put it in the column titled "Urban Legend" I mean if the solid wheel was such a huge problem then every car with a full cover hub cap would have stability problems.

funny, it's always about the FatBoy wheels that get a bad "wind" rap.... you never hear of anyone complaining about the wind and an Ulta Classic or Road King with their cast wheels and HUGE fairings and windshields.

I love rumors. I just got back from Big Bend and we had a 40 mph head wind and 65 mph gust. Then we headed south. 40 cross wind and dust and 65 gust and all the bikes went half lane when that happened.

By the way the only one who could do 80 mph was the ultra with Thundermax. And he stayed in 6th gear the entire time.

No problems here with the solid wheels. I think it is a myth like most others have said. Also, when a spoked wheel is moving fairly fast, it is just like a solidwheel anyway.

Hey Guys - I recently bought a brand new Fatboy and I have noticed that over 100kph I sometimes get a wobble in the bars. Now I live in one of the windiest cities in the world (Perth, Western Australia) and it may well be the wind, but equally it may be something in the steering setup - it seems to be too regular for wind gusts. I read quite a lot on this forum about steering head stems or something similar, and when I mentioned that to the dealer they said they check that at the first service, which is where the bike is now. I will post back when i get the bike back as I think I'll be spending sometime over that speed with the new cams!

Mine had that problem until they changed the front wheel bearing. I also had the tire changed because it got scalloped.

I've had it both ways and saw no difference at all.
