Default PUTTING ON NEW AIR FILTER

NEW MEMBER AND THIS IS MY FIRST POST. I HAVE A 1998 FATBOY, PRETTY MUCH STOCK. I'M GETTING READY TO DO SOME UPGRADES FOR PERFORMANCE ON THE BIKE. I JUST PURCHASED AN ARLEN NESS "BIG SUCKA" AIR KIT. IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO WHEN INSTALLING THE KIT.

you might need to re-jet. i would check into that as well. if you have stock pipes and plan on changing them. i would do it all at the same time...

The pipes I think are key here, have you changed them yet? If not how long until you do? If so they yes at least adjust may not need to rejet. If you haven't changed pipes yet soon as you so most diffently rejet. But more importanly post some pics when your done.

Just remember to be light on the filter oil. If not the wind will blow it on you, your seat, your engine, then when you stop it will drip and run down the side of the engine. DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNOW ALL THIS!!!!

Seriously good setup, like the others said, check your jetting.......

Basically, you are talking about "stage 1" That is pipes air and jetting. As with any engine, if you change one part, you do need to match the rest for best performance. As a point of reference, don't take the baffles out of the exhaust unless you want more sound and less mid to high end torque. Also the idea of using the exhaust power cones with no baffles also does not gain anything as per 99% of the dyno runs. I hope this helps in any small way.
Keep your face in the wind,
Woody

THANKS FOR THE INFO. THE BIKE IS GOING IN TWO WEEKS FROM NOW FOR A NEW CAM AND THEY ARE GOING TO JET THE CARB THEN. I'M PUTTING THE AIR KIT ON MYSELF. ON THE PIPES I WANT TO UPGRADE BUT IT MAY BE SOMETIME IN LATE SPRING I HOPE THIS WOULDN'T CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS.

Hey there Roadrage

I would personally wait to get some pipes as well and do
air cleaner and pipes in one shot. If you do the pipes only
you don't need to rejet. But anytime you change the air cleaner
you will certainly need to rejet. I'm not sure if it's good to
let more air into the engin with the stock mufflers being so
restrictive.
