Default Dropped bike

I’m not sure what happened. I had just ridden 80 miles, and stopped to get gas. As I left the gas station, I pulled up to a stop sign with a slight hill and slope. As I stopped, the bike started to fall to the left, and since that side was lower than the other side, my left foot just could not hold the bike, and it fell over. Broke my clutch lever and scratched the clutch cover.

I immediately shut it off, but some oil came out from the top of the oil tank I think and dripped to the ground, making it slippery. I picked it up and felt stupid, sad, humiliated, and depressed.

Just put the new parts in and tomorrow I will try theclutch to see if it is adjustedok.

Sorry to hear that, Reminds me when i no brained mine droppage. While talking to some friends of mine i moved my bike to be closer to the front door of the establishment we were at, after moving it we spoke for about 20 minutes while i was sitting on the bike, we started to go back inside so i dismounted the bike totally forgeting to put the kickstand down, long story short put a small mark on the end of the clutch lever but the bad thing was i broke my finger trying to keep the bike from fully falling over, my buds helped me up with it, but they still bust my chops on the no brainer....[sm=boink3.gif]So i do know the humility

you know Archer, after reading the initial post I scrolled down to read yours and my eye caught the little movement going on, and I just really didn't care about reading your post till I was sure I saw the entire thing. Anyhow, I think we all have done that oops, S#@t,DA%B thing at least once, the only saving grace is that it usually only causes minimal damage to the bike, the mental damage is far worse.

It reminds me of a time we were at Wildwood, NJ bike week. I was with 2 of my friends, 2 of us parked our bikes and got off, the third one pulled up, backed into the spot and he dropped the bikein front of a couple hundred people that were at the bars watching the traffic go by.. Needless to say, he picked it up, and took off to find another spot.....

Just for your info I was reading in a sports bike mag about the accidents involved with bikes. 97% of all riders in all classes have dropped their bike at some point in the life. The article stated that the 3% that did not were just those too ashamed to admit to it. It happened to me on my my dyna just outside the local bar. It was summer my hog chapter was gathering for a local ride and when I went there I forgot to do the stand. The bike and I fell in the bushes!!!!! Since then the owner of the bar has placed a parking sign in the bush that says that the spaced is for my bike only!!!!!!!!!!

It's also a good way to strain a muscle and you usually don't notice it until the next day.

There is a saying I believe is true:

"There are only two types of bikers.....the ones that have dropped their bikes...and the ones that haven't dropped them yet."

It can happen to even the most experienced rider at some point during their riding life. You are in good company.

Dude reminds me of the time I was riding my sportster with the wife on the back. I was turning onto a gravel road to see my friend and was only going about 5 MPH when all of a sudden I was standing up looking at my wife who was also standing up. I then looked down to see the bike on the ground running, it was the most surreal moment. It happened so fast one second I was on the bike, the next I was standing looking at my bike on the ground. Needless to say my wife never lets me forget that time. I was so F@#%#& pissed! Whatever live and learn.
