Default Rocker Mod Questions

I am a little discouraged after leaving my local Harley dealer today. I have the black rocker c and went in looking to make some mods. First I asked about the bars, I want to put drag bars on and they said it wasn't possible unless I had something custom made. He said the ones they have in their books won't match up to the bolts. They totally confused me and turned me away.

Second, I spent almost $500 on the new race tuner computer for the ecu to make sure the bike is tuned correctly. They said the sert is now obselete so they sold me the new one that just got released. The problem is that the service department hasn't put one in yet and doesn't have the software or doesn't know how to install it. They sold it to me and I have to wait for them to figure out how the software and mapping works.

Anyone have any input on either subject????

There is a drag-bar featured on the black rocker on the first page of the softail section within the Harley Catalog. You can download a copy from HD's site. However the bars are only 1.5" narrower, and most people who ride the rocker love the current bars. I'd wait for the aftermarket to catch up. Is there a Latus HD Dealer in your area? They seem to be well versed in tuning SE products.
Good-Luck and keep us posted!

The problem is real. I am currently (tomorrow) having the front forks changed to house a 120mm x 21" front wheel/tire and the option to place whatever bars I want.

What seems to be the problem with changing the risers to put on dragbars, the width between the two holes on the triple tree. What if two single mounted risers with two top clamps were used, do you think that might work.

bull dog,

sounds like your dealer is run by a bunch of morons. HD has drag bars specifically for the rocker. and the '08 SERT has been used by many people on this board. I would start looking elsewhere.

good luck

bulldog, the drag bars are in the book the part number is 56947-08, the bars are two peice bars not a single bar. when you take the 4 allen bolts out at the top of your risers that hold your bars on be ready to catch them.

Thanks guys for the replies. I went to another dealer today and they said the bolts are not the standard length apart which is a problem. I noticed the bars that harley offers but don't really think they will make that much of a difference. Besides I was looking for something a little more radical looking.

This dealer told me there is a problem with the new computer software so I should use the sert that they have been using for years.

I also got a couple of different answers to doing a Stage 1 on my new Rocker.... I wanted the Big Radius Pipes added at delivery which they did, and I paid $139.95 for the Stage 1 EFI Kit, $399.95 for the new EFI Race Tuner and 6 hours of labor to do the Stage 1 and custom fuel map. I now have the race tuner in hand in case I need to get service done on the road at another dealer. The whole job with pipes was $1812. My dealer had done one Rocker before mine so they had been down the road before, so to speak.

Great looking ride. Did you lower your Rocker? In your picture the rear end looks lowered (seat looks closer to fender), if so, how did you do it and with what parts?
