if you install it on the splash shield aka mud guard make sure you use tyraps because the velcro or 3m tape will fail like mine did. dealer installed cobble job. the bike quit on me twice because of pc banging and got cracked had to replace with sert and i wish i did in the first place imo power commander on a softtail is a bad idea cost me 500$ to find that out, 08 deluxe dealer refused to warranty the pc or their cobble job because non hd part was told to call dynojet aka pc and was told by very rude support tech tough s t because they don,t warranty damaged goods so buyer beware, anyways the bike runs much better with sert my 2$

05 deluxe. Under the seat with the deeper tray. Fits like a glove. Seat does not touch it. 07 - 08 may be a different story.

I just installed the power commander on my 08 Softail Custom and put the PCIII behind the splash shield as the directions said. I also took off the harness bracket per the directions. I have had no issues with mine and the onlyitem I didn't have on hand and was not included in the PCIII box was the dielectric grease. Make sure you use this stuff as it will help keep the connectors clean and keeps them from arcing. I'm going to have to look and see if there is enough space to reinstall the harness bracket. If there is, I'll have to buy a new one.

Oh by the way, I have heard many poeple say to get the bike dyno'd after you install the map. Not sure if this is needed but better safe than sorry.

I installed the PC behind the mud guard. Also, plugged in a one foot USB cable and ran it out the side next to where the battery tender is. Got to be a big hassle taking everything apart ever time I made a change.
