Hey guys. I've been MIA, busy finishing bike. We've come up with a nice alternantive to the plastic battery cover. We've decided to go with a leather cover that will replace the stock leather tank strap, and extend all the way to the back fender. It's coming along really well, and thought I'd share. It's gonna be a couple weeks still until she's all done.. I'm iching to ride!!

My friend Jason working his magic...
Ended up buying 3 different colors of sting rey hides, and went with the more red color..
Here's a close up shot of the new tank strap peice. Notice the opening for seat mount. The sting rey will continue past that mount underneath the seat. The leather leaves much more space, and looks amazing on. We're going to weave coat hanger into the outside fringe, so it has shape..
nice idea... that was the only thing that i personally had somewhat of a problem with when i first looked over the xbones on the showroom floor: the plastic. great solution... want to see it done and on the bike
No kit here. Made it from scratch. My friend is an expert with leather, and I told him what I wanted, and we designed it together. It's really at the beggining stages. You guys are gonna love it when it's done. If we get enought interested parties, we'd consider doing a run of them. But they are $$$.. lol.. Should be about a week or two before the whole project is done..

wow, WG where did you get the leather kit,?? I see the instructions in the pics. I want to make a Rear fender bib.....
Thanks for sharing your progress for sure!!! Amazing!!
White Guy, I like it!!! I always wondered why HD used the plastic cover until I read in the Enthusiast that they had to make it non-conductive so that the alarm system could communicate with the key fob. Apparantly the receiver is underneath the plastic cover. Keep us posted on your progress. You certainly are going to have one unique bobber.
