I've always liked an aligator or crock seat, but the more I see the Sting Ray the more I like it too.

I'd seriously consider using some stainless steel rod instead of coat hanger to weave thru the lacing. Many moons ago I made a similar piece to cover the top of the frame & oil tank on my Shovel when I ran a pogo solo seat. Tried the coat hanger and it did what they do - rusted. Redid it with some stainless rod used in TIG welding and that solved the problem.
