Speedo issue that I can't seem to fix!

From: 40 miles Northeast of Indy..
This spring I've notice that my turn sigs are sometimes slow in cancelling out.
Talked to a Dealer wrench last week and he said its prob the speed sensor in the tranny. Not real easy to get to and I haven't pulled it to clean yet.
The wrench did asked if the speedo was working OK cause he said it can also effect it. I'll add he said it seems to be more of a prob with touring bikes than Softies which has the prob a lot less.
