I couldn't do a Memphis Shade or and old man windshield on an FX, just NOT an option for me.
I had the same problem with mine, but I found the solution.
Lower it, ans tip it slightly forward.
I know it sounds wrong, but I dropped mine down as far as it could go to try and stop the flow from under the windshield that comes from the tank area.
I could ride without glasses now...

IMHO I like riding with a windshield, makes the ability to put in long miles. The "in the wind" riding. yeh, I have the wind all around, just dont have the worry of the stone hitting you in the face, the glasses flying off when you check the left lane prior to passing a cage, etc. etc. Love my shield

Wanna sell the windshield??? I have two different windshields for my old Sporty and have different used for each. I have the HD quick-disconnect on my FX and like it. Though, I would like to have a smaller one like yours to switch out to. You may email, PM or post to me if you want to sell it and quote how much. Sometimes, a windshield can be your best friend.

I hate to put a windshield on my night train, but for long distances it must be done. I just recently tried the 14 inch windvest and was really disappointed! It really did a whole lot of nothing. It did take the air off the face, but just seemed to swirl the air more than anything.I tried tilting it numerous angles but to no satisfaction. I would like to find a detachable windshield that is some what effective. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Augie.

Don't take windshield advice from anyone who doesn't ride the same style bike as you and isn't the same height as you. I have an 06 standard and I'm 6" 1". I hate to say how much money I've wasted trying to find a windshield that actually works. Ifthe windshieldisn't at least three inches ABOVE my eye level there isso much breakover turbulance that it vibrates my head enough to blur my vision. Adding lowers will help the updraft problem but they doNOT stop the breakover turbulance. The breakover turbulance occures directly behind the top of the windshield. Tilting it forward can help some; the farther behind the top of the shield you are the less the turbulance.

The Memphis Shades "El Paso" worked good for me and I could look over the 19" one anout 2 to 3 inches.
I'm 6 foot.

The only thing I didn't like was it had a lot of wind noise in my ears. Like riding with no shield.
That was just a little annoying for me.
No head buffering though.

Amen to that. I replaced my standard heightquick detatch with alow profilebecause I was looking through the top 2" where the curvature made for some distortion. With the loe pro I can see over by a good 3 or 4 inches (added a Mustangseat). Go figure. Now I have the breakover hitting my helmet with annoying head shake. When buying a replacement shield do the aftermarket shields have the holes pre drilled for HD quick detatch hardware?

For sale -an almost brand new HD low profile lightly smoked windshield. Make offer (by PM). (I'm 6' 1")

I ride a NT and the HD quick disconnect windshield sucked for me. I am 5-10". I have a Memphis Shades Hellcat in gradient black and it is better than the HD model but it still sucks somewhat. I'm not craking on anyone that likes these windshields but, don't waste your money. I was thinking of trying a Windvest but now I hear it sucks too. The search goes on. The reason I think both of the listed windshields suck is because of the massive wind buffeting that kicks my helmet around when using both models.

I don't personally like the looks of the HD Chrome Wind Deflectors,
but they do stop the head buffering on the short and tall HD windshields and I'm 6 foot.
I couldn't stand the HD shields without them on.

The Memphis Shades "El Paso" didn't need them.

The 20 1/2" King Size

The 17" shield Nostalgic
