I just picked up a stock 2005 FXSTDI. I am looking to get a set of slip-ons for it does anyone have any recommendations? Good places with fair prices? Thanks in advance Glen
Rush Slipons are hard to beat for the sound and the price. Good construction. I have a set on my Deluxe and my husband is expecting a set for his Road King from J&P Cycles any day. Lots of the vendors carry them, but they're so popular right now, don't be surprised that when you order a set they turn out to be on back order for a week or two. Just my .02.
Lots of people are partial to Rush. I've used Cysle Shacks for all my slip-ons. Admitedly, my CS slip-ons sounded awesome on my Sportsters but so-so on the Softail. However, I found them on Ebay for under $100 shipped new in the box so I didn't complain. They were an interim solution until I decided on a full exhaust anyway.
So I'll agree with the previous posters...Rush (or Cycle Shacks). Keep final cost under $225 if you can. Anything else you will either pay too much for or not get good quality out of. Slip-ons are slip-ons. For example, going with VH or Rinehart slip-ons aren't going to give you that much more performance versus Rush but will likely cost you a lot more. There is only so much you can do with add-on mufflers and the stock head pipes.
i put the V&H straightshots on mine and love the sound and performance. you can get them thru eastern performance or realhog for $240. free shipping. search around, there are others out there for not much difference in price. depends on what you want. good luck and let us know how it turns out. stay safe and enjoy the ride...
Thanks for the replies I had a chance to see and hear a set of rush pipes on a custom. That sold me ordered up a set yesterday and I can't wait to get them.
Thanks again
Glen
I got the Rush 2.0 and they are great they sound very good much better than stock.
I will try to post a pic.
Thanks for the advice if it wasn't for the fourm I would never found out about Rush.
