What would you do?
2006 softail still under warranty. So here it goes. Front end shimmy since day 1, took it in @ 1000 mile check up told them about it. They said it was steering head, so they tighten it. Now not as bad, then starts all over again. Took back in, they said same problem. Still not correct. So i figure that it was normal. Not. I just now called them to come pick it up. And said i dont want it back until it was right. Now it has 8000 miles on it. They said it was bad front tire. It is now fixed. But why should i pay for it if it is still under warranty?
Would you and should i call harley?

Bad shimmy from day 1, several non successfull attempts to correct, and after 8K miles they replace the tire and it solves the problem? Yeah, I think I'd call customer service about that one...
Well, Harley warranty does not cover wheels or tires. Why did you let it go for 2 years and 7000 miles after the first service? Man if my bike had a shimmy, and it does have the front end clunk, I won't ride it until it was fixed. My old honda got a bad shimmy the last year I rode it, and that was the last year I rode it. That's scary s--t, and definitely not something I would accept from a new bike. I agree that they should take care of it, but I think you may have let it go too long.
The wobble is semi-common on some of the newer bikes because of the steering head/fork assembly. Theres a bulletin about this and by adding the HD p/n #45740-07 it fixes it. Mine "clunked" from day one. I complained a couple of times, but it was not until the 1000 mile service did they actually address it. They installed the part (shim) in there and it 101% better.

A friend of mine had the same problem, they said bad tire, you pay for it,he said i don't feel i should pay for it but if you insist on billing me for the tire i will pay for it and sit on my bike in front of your door and tell everyone who enters how i got screwed by your service department. Also i will tell all my friends not to buy anymore goodies for their bikes from your dealership. He also wanted the labor to change the tire waved.........All was done for free...........07 fxst. This all happened 3 weeks ago at a very large dealership in Deleware [:-]
Warranty is warranty. Tell them to stick the bill. The tires are also warranted by the manufacture. Not your fault the techs' were too busy scratchin someones hard bags to find the problem. Make the MoCo stand up to the plate, don't pay em'
