Default Changing Hand Grips

Getting ready to change hand grips on my 06 Heritage Classic. Can anyone give me any pointers on how to do this job?
Thanks for any help.
Tom

Just jump right in and do it. It's not hard at all. I do have 3 suggestions.

1) Start with the throttle side first since that side is not glued on. Then you can line up the clutch side as needed.
2) Don't forget to squeeze the front brake lever and insert a small washer in there, temporarily, to keep a little tension. You don't want to break that little sensor in there.
3) Be careful when removing the throttle and idle cables. Those little brass ferrules like to run away on you.

When you reassemble the switch housings, be very careful you don't pinch one of the wires. I did this, and about 2000 miles later it shorted, blew the accessories fuse, and caused me a ton of grief to find and fix. Once burned, twice warned!

Keep what Grimm said in mind when you are doing it and you really can't go wrong. That washer tip is VERY important! You don't do that and you're out some unnecessary bucks. Easy job though. And , just my opinion but do yourself a favor and just cut the left grip and get it over with. It isn't really worth squat and although it can be gotten off, it can also be a pain in the keester, depending on how good it fit in the first place. Good luck!

I just installed the chrome and rubber grips on my Ultra, piece of cake, took me about 20-25 minutes with no issues.

If you are having a problem with the left grip, use compressed air. Blow into the end, and pull. It will slide right off. Cap the other end off if needed.

Like Tommy said, make sure the wiring harness is up in the recess before you clamp the switch housing back tight. Also, if you use left grips that are glue on's, dry fit them before applying the glue.
