I've been looking at the new 15th Anniversary Fat Boy edition. It has a 95 cubic inch big bore motor from the factory. I've been reading here all about the B motors and that some of these having been running hotter than normal because of the balancers (I guess). I'm 6'2" 250lbs, and this bike will not be run hard or modified in any way, except for scremin eagles II slip ons. Do you think there will be any problems considering the big bore kit?

Bigguy, the 95 with balancers is a good engine, just, you have to limit the revs. You can do pretty much anything with this bike, just keep it under about 5800. I would buy one in a second, with no fears at all. If you want a high rever, get a rice burner. The FB is a beautiful bike, and I would be proud to ride it.

BigEd, Both the a and b motors are good. The a motor shakes the bike alittle at idle but smooths out great on the road. The b motor shakes the bike only if you rev it above 4000 rpm. That is what i learned from my limited experience. I rode a dyna last year and it was a smooth running bike. It has the a motor. It shook at idle but man it rode great.
My deuce has a b motor and you never feel the motor till you rev high.(above about 4000 rpm). I have only been that high in the rpm range a couple of times becouse these bikes are so torquey at lower rpms you have no need to race motor.
It is all the way the motors are mounted to the frame. Ther A engine has robber mounts that allow the motor to shake and in turn shake bike at idle.
The B motor is mounted with metal only mounts so you feel the high rpm vibrations but the balancers take care of the low speed vibrations.
As far as the b motor running hot, mine ran normal all the time even in traffic it never got hotter than my buddys a engines.
We both have geuges and never saw a difference in heat ranges.
Hi BigEd, I have an 05 Fat Boy and installed a set of V&H ProHS 2-1 Pipes and like them alot, you should also consider the SE Slip on mufflers as these may work better for EFI and don't forget to get your EFI Module Reprogrammed at your local HD dealer. As for the 95" on the 88B, I am in the process of upgrading from my stock 88B with Carb to a 95" that will yield the same HP/Torque as a 103SE. You may also want to change tires at some point, I went to Metzlers 18" on my FLSTF and what a difference in ride and handling - use to follow every crack in the road - not any more. BigEd I am going to ad just a little on this subject, first of all I didn't know that they ran hot, mine never has and I'vegot 7000 mile's on it so far and as far as hot rodding the engine I wouldn't worry about that, If I'm not mistaken when you get a remap from Harley I think it take's the rev limiter to 6000 rpm's but like I have stated in some other post just don't down shift real hard after turning alot of rpm's it could poss. damage the gear's on the counter balancer's. Get the fatboy, you'll be glad you did.
Hey BigEd, welcome! I can tell you what I have experienced thus far, I have logged close to 700 miles on the odometer so far. The bike runs very well, I have not had any heat issues with the motor although I have nothing to compare it to as this is my first Harley. Normal day to day riding the bike doesn't seem hot at all. I felt some heat from the motor at one point but is was traveling through Main Street and Beach Street in Daytona Beach earlier this week during the middle of the afternoon at Bike Week. There were 100's of thousands of bikes there and we traveled probably 3mph for 30-40 minutes before we cleared traffic. Once we cleared the traffic and got some air into the motor she cooled right down. I would think this would be normal based on the circumstances. Seriously consider changing out the factory exhaust as this would help excavate the hot exhaust away from the motor. You can see the mods I've done in the New Members Section posted about a week ago titled "First Harley...what a rush!". The mods now make the bike pull hard to 6000 RPM and begs for more. .
If you go with the 15th addition (95ci) does are all the dowloads & filter work still required when the exhaust is changed out. I know when my buddy swapped exhaust on his SE Deuce it was just a matter of bolting the new pipes on.
