Default Single Fire Ignition

I have been thinking of putting a single fire ignition system on my '97 softail. Is it worth it with respect to performance and shake/vibration reduction? Is it a DIY project for someone with good mechanical skills?

Default RE: Single Fire Ignition

As far as vibration goes, I have heard that it helps some. A standard Harley Iginition fires both cylinders everytime it fires, and the firing of one cycinder on the ehaust stroke sometimes ingites unburned fuel and air in that cylinder. This is supposed to cause some vibration. I'm not sure how much you would benefit from the change. I think you could probably do the job yourself. My understanding is, it's just an iginition module change.

As far as an increase in performance, that is going to depend on what else you have done to the engine. If you don't have a cam, free flow air cleaner, and free flow pipes, I doubt you will notice any difference.

Regards,

Bill
