I'm new to the forum and i'm glad I found you guys.Seems like a cool place to get lots of info.
I sold my Night Train a few months ago and i'm ready to buy a new Fat Boy.My question is
what are the best aftermarket pipes for her?I'm going to get fuel injection model.I dont really
care about performance as much as sound but both would be cool. Also, are you guys running
fuel management systems with fuel injection?
bikerdude, welcome! There are many opinions on exhaust, sometimes the best thing to do is go to a dealer on a Saturday and listen to exhausts on various bikes. I went with the SE II's double barrell shotgun and love them. I get complimented on the looks and sound of them all the time. Here is a pic.
Bikerdude, I agree with the other posts, hang out at the dealer for a while and listen to the other bikes.
I am running SEIIs on my '03 FatBoy (EFI) and they sound awesome.
I am going to change over to Vance and Hines longshots here pretty soon. Although the SEIIs are working great, the way they are made has the passenger peg extending between the upper and lower pipe. So, just about any time I ride 2 up, I end up with melted boot on the upper pipe. The V&H's will both be below the peg, and should take care of that problem.
As for the EFI issues, I have the HD fuel module installed.
I have the V&H Longshots because they were on the bike when I bought it. My best friend has an 05 and he put the V&H Pro Pipes on. They really sound great and the guys at the dealer say they are the recommended pipes whenever someone asks. I would buy those if I didn't have what I do. The 2 into 1 looks great also.
That seat is actually original equipment on the Big Bore Fat Boy, it is known as the Badlander seat. I find it to be perfect. The seat is 12" in diameter instead of the standard 15" diameter seat that comes standard on the regular FatBoy, I find it to be more comfortable especially when stopped with your feet on the ground. Also, it sounds like fatboydews is running the SE II slip on's, if you go with the SE II's full exhaust that I have both exhaust pipes will run underneath the passenger pegs.
