I remember seeing that one, the thing was eating his pants leg going down the highway...I don't recall seeing any more like that one, and most of his stuff is one of a kind...you might check choppersinc.com and see if there's something about it on his site...

Anyone know how an open primary stands up (belt)? Do they do okay in the rain? Long distance? Or should these just be installed on bar-hoppers. Anyone got any advice? I'd like to put one on Overtime, but I go long-distance on her.

Not sure how they stand up in the rain, I have wondered too. Changed my mind when I saw the $3500 price tag for a top of the line Primo syatem.

Give me a break, that's rediculous. I guess it's up to each person how they spend their cash, but man I just can't see paying that much for that product. I saw that biker build off too, I guess "Cool" costs too much for me.

I knew a guy with an evo softail who just took the primary cover off and ran it open with no problems. I've never seen an open primary twin-cam.

I have ran a 3" belt and open primary on my old bike since 1982. Even the older 3" belts are very strong and the new ones I hear are even stronger. This belt has been on the bike for 20+ years and it now looks quite ragged,I just ordereda new onefrom primo. After a while your left paints leg gets shortened in the back from getting pulled through the front pulley, but after it does it a few times it is not a problem anymore. The rain is not an issue in any way.To be honest the onlylong term issue I have had is small gravels getting embedded in the belt when they fly up between the belt and the pulley. If you ever get on agravel roadgo very slow or this will happen. Below is a picture of the old belt after about 20 years of use. If you run an open 3" belt, just be prepared to answer the question I have heard a hundred times "have you ever got your foot in that thing?" You would think people whould figure out that I do not have a cut-off foot or limp before asking this.
