Default HD Revolver wheels

OK, after having 2 flats in 2 weeks on the rear of my '06 Heritage (one at 75 mph), I'm seriously considering giving up my laced spoke wheels for something I can run a tubeless tire on. HD makes a Revolver 10-spoke chrome wheel that I kind of like, but the list price is $1,235 ea. They also make a chrome 9-spoke wheel that looks very, very similar but has a list price of only $530. Does anybody know why the huge price difference in these two wheels? The description doesn't tell a whole lot about them, and I just can't imagine why the big difference for two wheels that look so much alike.

Thanks!
Jeff

I have had only one screw in the rear in 19000 miles, call me lucky, but it heald air till i could plug it. I will drive it another 3000 then change it sooner than normal. I used to plug them on the goldwing and never had issue. That is why i went with tubless tires and radial was the second.

Yep, I ran over a bolt in a parking lot on the way to MB bike week 2 weeks ago and lost the first tire, then blew the second one (the brand new one) going home from work last Friday while running 75 mph. By the time I got it stopped, the tire had separated from the rim, the tube had ripped apart from the valve stem and was so hot it had melted to the inside of the tire. Smoke poured out of it for 15 minutes, and an hour and a half later the tire was still hot to touch. It was a scary ride, but at least I managed to get it stopped without dumping it.

The 10 spoke are forged while the 9 spoke are cast... It's a difference in the manufacturing / chroming process which is beyond my comprehension to explain. Just suffice it to say that the forged wheels will be more expensive than the cast ones.

Incidentally, I wanted the 9 spoke for my FLSTSCi but they apparently won't fit... dammit!

If you got the accessory catalog under multi-fit they explain the difference pretty well.
