Just fitted my laser engraved Derby and points covers. Had it done here in the UK where I couldn't find anyone that advertised the service. I had to track down a small company that was prepared to do it. I was concerned about how well they would come out, but I am really quite pleased. Did the artwork myself.
Sorry about the pics - it's not easy getting good pics of chrome. will try to get some better pics of the bike over the weekend if it stays dry [:@]
The marking is on the surface, it is not a deep cut. As I understand it some kind of black paste is burnt into the surface by the laser. I imagine that if the chrome is rubbed off the marking will not show under the chrome, but it seems pretty durable - only time will tell. I have only washed and applied a layer of wax polish so far, so it will be interesting to see how it stands up to everyday use.
The signature is a quote from the original Beowulf poem - loosely translates as - "across the moor from the misty mountains Grendel came stalking. God's wrath he bore" I have always liked the quote since I waded through the poem when I was a student.
